Pre-Treatment Instructions:
- One month before: Follow any specific skincare instructions provided by your dermatologist.
- Two weeks before: Avoid clinical treatments like chemical peels, microneedling, and laser resurfacing.
- 48 hours before treatment:
- Discontinue the use of skincare products containing active ingredients such as Vitamin A compounds (retinol, retinoids), Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), and other exfoliating products.
- Avoid direct sun exposure.
- If you have a history of herpes or cold sores, consult your physician about obtaining an anti-viral prescription before treatment.
- Certain medications or supplements may increase skin sensitivity, so consult with your physician before your appointment.
Post-Treatment Care:
- Your skin may appear slightly red for a few hours post-treatment, similar to mild sunburn.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating for 24 hours.
- Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and excessive heat exposure for at least three days.
- Use gentle, fragrance-free skincare products for 3-5 days or until sensitivity subsides.
- Cleanse and moisturize your skin twice daily, following any recommended home care regimen.
- Avoid over-the-counter topical medications containing AHAs or BHAs for at least 5 days after treatment.
- Discontinue the use of retinoids for at least 3 days post-treatment, or longer if your skin remains sensitive.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 1-2 days post-treatment and apply a mineral SPF 30-50 sunscreen daily.
- Refrain from tanning for at least two weeks, as skin will be more susceptible to sun damage.
- Do not pick or peel any skin that may become dry or flaky, as this could lead to scarring or hyperpigmentation.
- Avoid facial waxing, depilatories, and electrolysis for 1-2 weeks post-treatment.
